Get to know more of our talented and young Pinoy artist through our short interview with her:
When did your art journey began?
Answer: I began my artistic journey in high school, working on various projects and commissions. During the pandemic, I expanded my creativity by painting on tote bags and canvases. This shift opened up opportunities for me to sell my artwork internationally, with pieces even reaching Little Cayman Island.
2. Describe your art style.
Answer: My art style combines realism and impressionism. I use vibrant colors and quick brush strokes in my impressionistic pieces to capture movement and atmosphere. This blend allows me to create detailed yet expressive works and explore the interplay between light, color, and form in a way that feels both vivid and dynamic
3. Who are your art influences and why?
Answer: The person who most influenced me to continue pursuing art is my mom. After taking a break for almost a year, she encouraged me to try again. This led me to many veteran artists who inspired me to express myself, create my own trademark in the art world, and not be afraid to experiment and play with colors
4. What is the importance of art?
Answer: Art is essential in our lives, particularly for our mental health. It can serve as a form of therapy for those experiencing depression, anxiety, and stress. Art goes beyond mere creativity and artistic expression; it acts as light and hope for people living in darkness. It offers a way to heal, cope, and find meet solace in difficult times, making it a powerful tool for emotional well-being.
5. Do you have a favorite painting?
Answer: Describe your art piece. My favorite painting is my first artwork, "The Apple in Autumn," which I created during my first year of high school. This piece, inspired by my favorite Disney movie, Snow White, was challenging and required many revisions. Despite the effort, it holds a special place in my heart and marks a significant milestone in my artistic journey.
6. Do you have any upcoming projects?
Answer: I am thrilled and proud to announce my first solo birthday exhibit. Despite the demands of my schoolwork, I've managed to balance my time to prepare for this exciting event. This solo exhibit will showcase my artworks and painting skills and includes a special purpose: a free art workshop for young and adults.
7. Where do you get your inspiration for your masterpieces?
Answer: I draw inspiration from my father's initial surname, "R," and my grandfather's surname, "Galit," using them as a tribute to honor their influence in my life and artistic journey. Each piece I create carries memories of them, encapsulating the places we've been, my childhood experiences, and significant life events. Their legacy is woven into my work, making every artwork a personal reflection of my history and inspirations.
8. What is your message to young and aspiring artists out there?
Answer: "I started as a young artist, struggling to improve, but growth takes time, patience, consistency, and practice. Take it one step at a time, and you'll get there. Enjoy art, express your feelings and thoughts. Let creativity guide you to create your own unique style.
