Zita Virginija Jusevičiūtė-Tarasevičienė, an acclaimed Lithuanian painter based in Kaunas, Lithuania, has spent more than three decades shaping a unique artistic voice that resonates both at home and abroad. Recognized internationally, her works have traveled far beyond Lithuanian borders, gracing exhibitions in France, Italy, Turkey, Latvia, Germany, South Korea, Canada, Poland, and Ireland. In addition to these global showcases, she remains deeply rooted in her homeland, where she frequently presents anniversary exhibitions and actively participates in collaborative plein air sessions with fellow artists.

Her creative journey traces back to the early 2000s, with an especially active period between 2002 and 2014. Since 2001, she has staged more than one hundred exhibitions across major Lithuanian cities, including Vilnius, Kaunas, Kėdainiai, and Panevėžys. In recognition of her contributions, she was officially granted the status of Artist in 2019.

Jusevičiūtė-Tarasevičienė’s work is marked by versatility and fearless experimentation. Moving fluidly between abstraction and figuration—with occasional hints of realism—she embraces bold palettes, layered textures, and dynamic compositions. Oil, acrylic, and mixed media are her primary tools, which she wields to capture both the external beauty of nature and the inner landscapes of human experience. Influences of expressionism and post-impressionism emerge in her canvases, while existential and philosophical reflections run like an undercurrent through much of her oeuvre.

Her paintings are often likened to abstract landscapes, where vibrant strokes evoke music, movement, and mood. Cycles such as Life Is Full of Chaos—a series charged with intense lines and rhythmic gestures—explore the interplay of order and disorder. In Ode to Autumn, she bathes her canvases in rich seasonal hues, celebrating the fleeting splendor of nature. Meanwhile, Black Silver reveals her mastery of subtle tonal variation, using shades of gray to explore nuance and emotion with restraint and elegance.

Her collaborations with institutions such as the Public Institution Gabrielegallery, along with the critical insights of Professor a.a. Algis Uždavinys, art critic Neringa Mikol, and Professor Remigijus Venckus, have helped frame her work within the broader discourse of contemporary art. The international art magazine Art Heals has also highlighted several of her key works, including Venetian Carnival, selections from Survive, Ode to Autumn, Play of Colors, and Sails.

At the heart of Zita Virginija Jusevičiūtė-Tarasevičienė’s artistic practice lies a deep engagement with emotion and transformation. Her canvases radiate with expressive energy, balancing aesthetic harmony with raw human feeling. Whether through seasonal themes, abstract explorations, or philosophical reflections, her work invites viewers into a dialogue with both nature and the soul.
